Life Sciences (LS) Industry Group
The Life Sciences industry in Singapore has been growing rapidly worldwide. With the successful mapping of the human genome in 2000 and many other amazing discoveries, life sciences has emerged as the new wave in scientific and technological innovations. The Singapore government hopes to make this industry the fourth pillar of Singapore?s manufacturing sector after electronics, chemicals and engineering. Thus, the Life Sciences Industry Group (LSIG) hopes to grow the sector with more membership drives and dialogues.
The Life Sciences Industry Group consists of the following Sub-Industry Groups:

Singapore Pharmaceutical Manufacturer's Council (SPMC)
The SPMC covers the western and quasi-western secondary pharmaceutical products such as western generic pharmaceuticals and medicated balms and oils. -
Singapore Pharmaceutical Trade Organisation (SPTO)
This group covers promotion, protection and advancement of the pharmaceutical trade and industry, and all other interests affecting the pharmaceutical trade and industry in Singapore
Main Objectives
- To maintain and enhance the reputation and credibility of the pharmaceutical industry in Singapore and its contribution to public health and welfare
- To ensure the medicinal products are of the highest quality and are readily available for the prevention and treatment of human and animal ailments
- To co-operate with the Singapore government, and public bodies in Singapore to further economic development and prosperity of Singapore, with particular reference to the promotion of investment and the advancement of the Singapore pharmaceutical industry.
- To promote and facilitate the pharmaceutical industry in Singapore, and between Singapore and foreign countries
- To promote and comment on regulatory issues or other measures affecting the pharmaceutical industry
- To undertake, coordinate, or encourage the conduct of research and studies which will serve to identify opportunities, projects or products for complementation in the pharmaceutical industries
- To address and communicate with the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) on regulatory issues
- To address the patent issues for Pharmaceutical products
- To collate and disseminate information to the members
