Mexico - Singapore: Partnership for the 21st Century
Event Description
Mexico is ranked as the best country to establish a business in Latin America today. According to the World Bank, Mexico is ranked 35th. According to the United Nations, Mexico is also the number one creative economy in Latin America and number 18th in the World, as well as the most competitive economy in auto parts manufacturing. One of every seven cars circulating in United States is manufactured in Mexico.
Inspired by a deep conviction on the virtues of free trade, Mexico is also one of the most open economies in the world today. To date, the country has free trade agreements with 45 countries. These allow Mexican products to have direct access – free of tariffs - to a market of more than one billion consumers in the world.
The economic strategy adopted by Mexico in these last decades has resulted in non-oil exports increasing steadily since 1993, having leveraged on Mexico’s comparative advantages. Total exports from Mexico in 2010 amounted to USD298.10billion, while imports amounted to USD301.4 billion.
